The student will learn the processes, principles and equipment involved in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. The student should be able to discuss electrical safety in GTAW, how to properly handle welding and cooling systems, and solve problems concerning GTAW. Topics of study include GTAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum plate using 16 gauge and 3/8" mild steel plate. Prerequisite: WELD 1840 and WELD 1950 or Instructor Permission Competency Based Instruction in Welding Lab; Flex Entry/Flex Exit
