Description:
In this course, students start a young horse under saddle. Under the direction of the instructor students demonstrate round pen reasoning, correct longeing, sacking out, saddling, introducing a bit, and driving. The horse that is started under saddle will be trained for 30-45 days. A two to four year old horse is provided to each student to gently train and care for according to established training objectives within the equine training program. Evaluation of a horse's conformation and performance including terms used in horse judging, will also be covered throughout the duration of this class. Prerequisite: Completion of EQST 1685.
