This course is designed to teach basic functional ASL which can be used in everyday interactions. The grammar and vocabulary of ASL, as well various aspects of Deaf culture, will be learned within the context of communicative activities, role plays, games and class activities. Because this course is designed to teach functional skills for communicating with deaf people, the use of the voice will be restricted. (3 lect hrs/week)
