First semester of a two-course sequence Presents classical mechanics at intermediate level. Begins with elementary Newtonian mechanics and builds step by step into analytic mechanics. Includes simple harmonic motion of particles in one, two or three dimensions, gravitation; introduction to rigid-body motion; and introduction to Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Mechanics. Prerequisites: PHYS 2310 or equivalent, MATH 2210 or equivalent.
