The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering and soil dynamics. Lectures will focus on stress wave propagation in soil and rock; characterization of earthquakes and ground motions; influence of soil conditions on seismic ground motion characteristics; and liquefaction of soils. Prerequisites: CE 3600 or Graduate Standing.
