This course is designed to teach students the concepts underlying general and oral manifestations of human disease states, manifestations of specific diseases, relationships to body defense mechanisms, and potential implications for medical and dental hygiene treatment. To the extent possible, applications to clinical situations in dental hygiene practice will be made. Prerequisite: enrollment in the dental hygiene program at Sheridan College.
