An introductory course teaching the fundamental skills of hiking. The student recognizes safety and seasonal considerations associated with hiking. Student practices hiking preparedness, leadership, wilderness safety, leave-no-trace principles, and basic survival. The student is challenged to assess, analyze and solve a variety of situations with limited resources. Students hike a variety of trails in Laramie County and surrounding areas.
