This course is designed for non-art majors and is intended to equip students with the basic knowledge needed to intelligently discuss a work of art. Students will learn about the formal aspects of art, various theory-based criticisms of art, diverse media, and many historical and cultural aspects of art. This course introduces the human phenomenon of art making through reading, writing, discussion, lecture, and studio projects.
