This course focuses the pedagogical content knowledge and instructional and assessment practices that will prepare students to implement research-based reading and writing instruction for children from ages 3-8. Key topics include reading aloud to young children; phonological awareness, phonics, and word recognition; reading fluency and comprehension; vocabulary; and writing. Prerequisites: EDEL 2140 and EDST 3100 or concurrent enrollment.
