The purpose of the Clinic is to assist low-income and ESL taxpayers in resolving their tax controversy disputes with the IRS, either administratively or by trial in the United States Tax Court. The Clinic gives students practical tax controversy experience by allowing them to handle cases before the Internal Revenue Service (the IRS)'s Examination Division, Appeals Division, Collection Division, Office of Chief Counsel, and the United States Tax Court.
