  Students consolidate the entire spectrum of their educational experience into the development of a project based learning Diesel Service Project. Students select a diesel project and Industry partner to develop a project plan and see the project to completion. Students present their project to the Industry partner(s) for their review upon the completion of the capstone course. Students articulate skills learned throughout college in application of their portfolio to both job applications and general education practices. Students create a post-graduation plan and apply financial planning and transfer or career-readiness tasks in a way that supports their personal goals. Prerequisite: Successful completion of any 3 courses with DESL prefix.

  A course designed to provide students with the skills necessary to physically apply the principles of air brake and suspension systems. Students gain the ability to identify, assemble, adjust and repair hydraulic systems, air-over hydraulic systems, air brake systems, front suspension systems and rear suspension systems. This course also encompasses Department of Transportation approved procedures for vehicle highway safety regulations, preventative maintenance inspection, (PMI). Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in IST 1520.

Students examine energy balance and the chemistry, digestion, absorption and metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, water, vitamins and minerals. Students explore the role of nutrition in development and maintenance throughout the life cycle, as well as the role of nutrition in health and disease in the oral cavity. Students analyze diets and eating patterns. Students apply nutritional counseling strategies to prevent oral disease and improve oral health. Prerequisite: Completion of DHYG 1150.

  Students identify theory, principles, and procedures necessary for the performance of dental hygiene services. Through didactic, laboratory, pre-clinical, and service-learning experiences, they demonstrate appropriate ergonomics, infection control procedures, and professional behavior. Students also assess medical/dental histories, intra- and extra-oral structures, and hard and soft tissue deposits. In addition, they identify dental hygiene instruments and practice instrumentation, therapeutic stain removal, and fluoride application skills. Using the dental hygiene process of care model, students identify the rationale for dental hygiene intervention and develop basic dental hygiene diagnoses and treatment plans. Students also assess their skills and reflect on their progress. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Dental Hygiene program.

Students apply skills and techniques in DHYG 1425 Clinic I. Prerequisite: Completion of the first term of the LCCC Dental Hygiene Program.
