Recent research in the areas of oral and written language acquisition is compared and contrasted.   The student will examine the implications of a child's physical and mental health status on his/her personal, social, cognitive, language and motor development. The impact of development on quality of child and family life and educational progress is emphasized, working with young children, including young children with disabilities and their families, examples of family-centered, trans-disciplinary and relationship-based approaches to physical and mental health care and education intervention planning. Prerequisites: Completion of EDEC 1020, EDFD 2100, and PSYC 1000. (3 lect.)
